BULLDOG SPOTLIGHT: CHASE VOGLER
Tuesday, October 9, 2012
There are some NCAA Division II quarterbacks, perhaps, who have thrown for more yards, completed more passes, or own a better passing efficiency rating, but when it comes to winning football games, no one over the past three-plus seasons can trump Chase Vogler. No one.
Since taking over as the University of Minnesota Duluth's starting field general three weeks into the 2009 season -- his first with the Bulldogs -- Vogler has compiled an eye-popping 41-5 record. Along the way, he has quarterbacked UMD to one national title, three straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships and three trips to the NCAA II playoffs. The Inver Grove Heights , Minn., native and 2012 team captain has also run for more yards than any quarterback in team history (2,326, which ranks 11th all-time among all Bulldogs).
But most of all, he wins. And wins. And wins ...
