UMD MOVES UP TWO SLOTS TO SEVENTH IN AFCA II POLL

Monday, October 15, 2012

A 44-6 road win over Minot State University this past Saturday helped tthe University of Minnesota Duluth slide up two slots to No. 7 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll. The Bulldogs share that spot with reigning NCAA Division II champion, Pittsburg State University, which dropped from No. 1 after Saturday's 31-21 loss to Northwest Missouri State University.

UMD, which is 6-1 on the year, is one of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference clubs to make this week's Top 25 list, joining Minnesota State University-Mankato (No. 9) and the University of Sioux Falls (No. 23). The Bulldogs have cracked the Top 10 in every AFCA II weekly poll except for two weeks (both coming last fall) since Sept. 29, 2008 and held down the top slot from Nov. 2, 2010 to Sept. 19, 2011.

UMD is back at James S. Malosky Stadium this Saturday afternoon (Oct. 20) for a NSIC North Division collision with Bemidji State University.
