BULLDOGS WOMEN AND MEN SET SEVEN TEAM RECORDS SATURDAY AT UW-SUPERIOR

Some seven Border Battle meet records fell by the wayside courtesy of the University of Minnesota-Duluth Saturday afternoon at the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus.
UMD produced eight individual champions, including junior team captain Cole Toepfer, who won both the 800-meter run in a meet-record time of 1:58.39 and the mile in 4:18.50. Other meet records were set by sophomore Alexandra Rudin in the mile (5:13.83), senior Kirsten Bjork in the 200-meter dash (26.45), sophomore Amelia Maher in the high jump (5'-02.75" ), junior Nathan Knop (6'-02.75"), the men's distance medley relay team of sophomore Scott Urban, junior Danny Badhwa, sophomore Chris Wilson and sophomore Dan Nielsen (10:36.33) and the women's 4 x 400 relay team of Bjork, Maher, sophomore Tatum Garrity and junior Kate Hassing (4:06.25). Nielsen (8:56.91 in the 3,000-meter run), junior Kelsi Ring (8.94 in the 60-meter hurdles), junior Jake Nelson (7.16 in the 60-meter dash), freshman Kaelyn Williams (10:39.32 in the 3,000-meter run).
Both the UMD men and the women will head to the College of St. Scholastica to compete in the Lake Superior Challenge. A select number of women will take part in the Iowa State Classic next weekend as well.
