THE SERIES:  UMD is 52-11-4 all-time against OSU after sweeping the Buckeyes earlier this season.  The Bulldogs swept OSU in Columbus, OH in November with 3-2 and 2-0 wins.  On Nov. 15 the Bulldogs used three first period goals by Jamie Kenyon, Lara Stalder and Jenna McParland to jump out to a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes.  Despite OSU outshooting UMD 31-22 in the game, including 12-8 in the opening period, the Bulldogs held on for a 3-2 win.

The following afternoon (Nov. 16), the Bulldog rookies stepped up to the scoring table, with a first period score from Ashleigh Brykaliuk and a second stanza goal from Bailey Wright.  Those two goals ended up being more than enough for UMD, with sophomore goaltender Kayla Black impressive between the pipes and saving all 36 shots she faced for her sixth career shutout.

Kenyon had a goal and two assists in the series, while Tea Villila, fresh off Team Finland duty, had three assists on the weekend.  Wright figured in both of UMD's goals Saturday with a goal and an assist.

OSU outshot UMD 67-47 in the series -- the second time in 2013 that UMD had been outshot by the Buckeyes and still won.

The Buckeyes ended the Bulldogs 2012-13 season the last time they were at AMSOIL, upsetting UMD in two games in the first round of the WCHA playoffs back on March 1-2, 2013.
