No. 2 University of Minnesota Duluth topped the first official NCAA II Central Region Top 10 rankings released Wednesday.
UMD (23-1, 16-0 NSIC) tops a list comprised of six Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams and four teams of the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). All seven region teams ranked in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll this week crack the top ten, and six of eight NCAA II Central Region tournament teams from a season ago also return to the rankings.
Rankings will be released three times before the end of the season before the NCAA II Postseason Tournament selection show on Nov. 16 at 9:00 p.m. Three automatic bids will be earned by winning the conference tournaments of the NSIC, MIAA, and Great American Conference with the remaining five reflecting the top five ranked "at-large" contenders. The top seed will host the NCAA II Central Region tournament Nov. 20-22.
