The University of Minnesota Duluth and head women's basketball coach
Annette Wiles have announced the signing of two Minnesota high school stars to national letters of intent.
Eden Prairie native Emma Boehm will join the Bulldogs next season after a four-year starting career as a shooting guard/wing player for Eden Prairie High School. The 5-foot-11-inch Boehm has served as the captain for head coach Chris Carr's Eagles, earning All-Lake Conference honors in her junior season as she led the team to a Minnesota State High School League AAAA State Tournament appearance, earning All-Tournament Team honors in the process. She shot 50.0 percent from the field and 43 percent from beyond the arc, averaging 11 points and five boards per game for Eden Prairie. "Emma has had great success on the court and in the classroom, and we think she has a huge upside," said Coach Wiles. "She will help our team by doing so many little things right. Emma is a great rebounder, passer, and scorer." Boehm comes from an athletic background: her father played football at Grove City College and her mother volleyball at Bowling Green State University. She also participated in track for two seasons as a middle distance runner at Eden Prairie.
Maple Plain native Kiera Nelson joins Boehm in the 2015-16 freshman class after a four-year starting career as a guard for Orono High School. She has served as a two-year captain for coach Ellen Wiese and the Spartans, leading the team in scoring twice in her career and entering her senior year as a two-time All-Wright County Conferenceselection. The 5-foot-6-inch Nelson also earned all-conference honors in varsity lacrosse and started as an outside hitter in volleyball. "We are excited for Kiera to become part of our Bulldog family," said Wiles. "She is a talented guard that is incredibly athletic and has a nose for scoring. She will be a great addition to our team."
