Cole Toepfer, along with fellow senior
Tyler Stevens and juniors
Phil d'Entremont and
Chris Wilson, will all put the finishing touches on their 2014 indoor seasons this weekend when that University of Minnesota Duluth quartet takes part in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event kicks off Friday (March 14) at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Toepfer will compete in the mile run and those prelimaries are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday with the finals being held the following afternoon at 4 o'clock. He qualified for that event with a school-record record time of 4:10.07 -- the ninth best mark in the nation. Toepfer will also team with Stevens, d'Entremont and
Chris Wilson in the distance medley relay event at 7 p.m. Friday. That unit punched its ticket to Winston-Salem by turning in a school-record 10:00.03 clocking last month (and is seeded 8th for this meet).
All four Bulldogs will be making their initial appearances in a NCAA II national competition of any kind this weekend.
