Amelia Maher won the 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference pentathlon title and Friday the University of Minnesota Duluth senior returned to that same facility and produced the same result in that same event. This time it was the Minnesota State University-Mankato Open where Maher rolled up 3,503 points and topped the 11-person field (all of whom were from NSIC schools). Augustana College's Melissa Barella was a distant second with 2,975 points.
Maher, a native of Sauk Center, Minn., placed first in the 800-meter dash (2:28.57), second in long jump (5.25 meters), shot put (10.04 meters) and high jump (1.67 meters) and fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.47).
