Three University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs -- junior
James Ryan and sophomores
Ben Hanson and
Jason Lilja -- captured individual titles at the University of St. Thomas Invite Friday in St. Paul, Minn., while a handful of their teammates posted top-three finishes.
Ryan won top honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 seconds and Hanson did likewise in the 1,000-meter run (2:42.37). Lilja outdueled Bulldog junior
Mark Emlaw in the men's long jump, leaping 22'-01.00" while Emlaw was next at 21'-08.75". Senior team captain
Phil d'Entremont (50.96 in the 400-meter dash), sophomore
Nick Krouse (42'-03.25" in the triple jump) and junior
Devin Sowers (48'-07.25" in the shot put) all finished second in their respective events as did Emlaw,
Garrett Benz, Krouse, and rookie
Logan Rubeck in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:35.34). Both team captain
Nick Moran (54'-04.50" in the weight throw) and fellow senior
Jacob Nelson (6.69 in the 55-meter dash) turned in third-place finishes for the Bulldogs, who will close out the the month of January next Saturday (Jan. 31) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout's Warren Bowlus Open.-
