After a two-week stay at No. 6 -- and a pair of two-goal losses at nationally-ranked University of Nebraska-Omaha over the weekend -- the University of Minnesota Duluth dropped to 13th in the latest USCHO.com poll.
The Bulldogs (3-4-2 overall), who dropped identical 4-2 decisions to the then-No. 8 Mavericks last Friday and Saturday, accumulated 415 points in this week's USCHO.com rankings. Providence College, the defending NCAA champion, took over the top spot with 29 first-place votes and 962 points and was followed by Boston College (17 first-place votes; 941 pts.), the University of North Dakota (one first-place vote; 859 pts.), Quinnipiac University (the remaining three first-place votes; 849 pts), the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (813 pts.), Omaha (744 pts.), Harvard University (723 pts.), the University of Denver (575 pts.), St. Cloud State University (574 pts.) and Yale University (539 pts.)
UMD is among six National Collegiate Hockey Conference clubs that cracked the USCHO.com Top 20, joining No. 3 North Dakota, No. 6 Omaha, No. 8 Denver, No. 10 St. Cloud State, and No. 17 Miami. Western Michigan, another member of that eight-team circuit, received votes.
The Bulldogs, who, prior to this week had been slotted among the top 10 teams in every USCHO.com poll since Nov. 17, 2014, will host Denver this Friday and Saturday night in their 2015-16 NCHC home debuts.
