As a final tuneup for next week's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, the University of Minnesota Duluth took its second trip in little over a month to the University of Minnesota's Fieldhouse for Friday's Snowshoe Open.
Although the Bulldogs were unable to collar any individual or relay titles, they did post a number of notable finishes. Among those was
Jason Lilja, who placed second in the high jump (6'-06.25") and third in the long jump (22'-03.75"). Staying with the field events, fellow sophomore
Nick Krouse also took runnerup honors in the triple jump (41'-11.25') while senior captain
Nick Moran was sixth in the highly-competitive men's weight throw (invitational divisional) with a toss of 55'-0.75". Junior
James Ryan, who competed in the NSIC Indoor Heptathlon Championships earlier this week, finaished second only to Minnesota's Ben Holcomb in the 60-meter hurdles (8.33) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.03 -- .05 seconds back of Bulldog senior Jake Nelson, who wound up fourth). In the 600-meter run,
Frank Deluca continued to build on his promising collegiate debut season by placing fourth, behind two current Minnesota runners and a Gopher alumus, at 1:23.65. Senior captain
Phil d'Entremont was fifth in the 800-meter run (1:55.68) while sophomore
Seth Hare and freshmen
Alex Naughton,
Nathan Comer and
Cody Sedbrook were second in the distance medley relay (10:48.45).
