Junior Hannah Olson and freshmen Katherine Hawkinson and Emilee Trost all secured individual titles for the University of Minnesota Duluth at the University of Minnesota's Parents Day Open on Saturday. The meet served as a final tuneup to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which starts next Thursday in Mankato, Minn.

Olson prevailed in the 1,000-meter run, clocking in at 2:58.16 while fellow cross country All-American Trost finished (out of 50 competitors) in the mile run with a time of 4:55.46 -- a NCAA II provisional-qualifying effort and the eighth best mark in the country at the moment.  Hawkinson leaped 35'-05.75" in the triple jump to win that event. UMD also received top five showings from junior Madeline Schaeffer in both the 400-meter dash (2nd; 59.52) and 60-meter hurdles (2nd; 9.21), freshman Erica Kesseh in the 60-meter dash (2nd; 7.82), senior Alexandra Rudin in the 1,000-meter run (2nd to Olson; 2:58.48) senior Katherine Ayers in the weight throw (4th; 55'-05.00") and Hawkinson in the long jump (5th; 16'-02.25").
