The University of Minnesota Duluth fell short in its quest for their second straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship crown, settling for fourth place out of the 14 teams at the two-day event that concluded today at in Mankato, Minn.
The University of Mary took top team honors with 142 points and were followed by Augustana College (119 pts.), host Minnesota State University-Mankato (101 pts.), UMD (83 pts.), Winona State University (78 pts.) and Minnesota State University-Moorhead (60 pts.).
Two Bulldogs claimed to individual titles -- junior team captain
Hannah Olson in the mile run (an NCAA Division II provisional-qualifying time of 4:55.82) and freshman
Emilee Trost in the 1,000-meter run (2:51.53). Other point contributors for the Bulldogs included Olson in the 3,000-meter run (2nd place; 9:44.10), freshman
Mary Ford in the 600-meter run (3rd; 1:36.62), sophomore
Samantha Rivard in the 3,000-meter (4th; 9:50.93) and mile run (4th; 5:00.80), senior captain
Alexandra Rudin in the 1,000-meter (4th; 2:56.58) and 3,000-meter runs (8th; 10:15.70), sophomore
Breanna Colbenson in the 5,000-meter run (4th; 17:15.77-provisional qualifier), the Distance Medley Relay team of freshman
Amber Seidenkranz, junior
Madeline Schaeffer, Ford and Colbenson (5th; 12:21.75), the 4x400 relay team consisting of senior captain
Amelia Maher, Schaeffer, senior
Erin Pangerl and Ford (5th; 3:59.55), senior
