Emilee Trost will represent the University of Minnesota Duluth at the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day, 113-school meet begins on Thursday (May 21) at the Grand Valley State University Track and Field Complex in Allendale, Mich.
All five Bulldogs will be making their NCAA II outdoor national debut with the exception of Rudin, who placed 19th one year ago in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the same venue. Both Rudin, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Olson (Richfield, Minn.) will compete in the steeplechase event with those preliminaries set for Thursday at 6:40 p.m. (ET) and the finals the following night at 7:15 p.m. Maher, the top individual point-producer at last weekend's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships, is slated to take part in the two-day heptathlon (marking the third straight year a Bulldog has participated in that competition), which begins with four events on Thursday at 11 a.m. and concludes Friday afternoon. The Sauk Centre, Minn., product will then immediately set her sights on the high jump with those finals taking place at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The first field event of the meet is the women's hammer throw finals at 11 a.m. Thursday and that will feature Hitchcock (Forest Lake, Minn.) among the 21 competitors. Later that day (5:10 p.m.), Trost will run in the 1,500-meter preliminaries with hopes of securing a spot in Saturday's finals (2:25 p.m.).
