AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll Week 3 (Sept. 21, 2015)
UMD's No. 1 RankingsThe top-ranked University of Minnesota Duluth survived another week of upsets atop the American Volleyball Coachces Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll, particularly in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, causing a shuffle among the other top-ranked teams in the NSIC.
No. 1 UMD (9-1, 2-0 NSIC) strengthened its grip on first-place votes, now with 35, after dominating in its last time out as it opened NSIC play with a pair of three-set sweeps. Wayne State (Neb.) College, last week ranked eighth, moved up to No. 5 after knocking off last week's No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State University who shifted down one spot to third. Concordia University, St. Paul fell from No. 3 to No. 8 after falling against Winona State University who was just outside the top 25 last week and now sits in a tie at No. 22 with fellow NSIC foe Augustana (S.D.) University. Last week's No. 4 Ferris State University moves to No. 2 and holds the remaining 13 first-place votes.
Rounding out the NSIC representation in the top-25 is No. 19 Northern State University, who moved up three spots. Minnesota State University Mankato remains among the teams receiving votes but outside the top 25. Western Washington University, the lone team to own a victory over UMD this season, continued is ascent, up one spot from a week ago to No. 15.
UP NEXTUMD plays host to St. Cloud State University tomorrow night at Romano Gym. Opening serve is set for 7:00 p.m. and the match can be seen locally on the My9 Sports Network.
