Six different University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs posted first-place finishes at meets over the weekend -- Friday's University of St. Thomas Showcase and Saturday's Yellowjacket Open.
Senior All-American
Hannah Olson snared top honors in the Showcase's 3,000-meter race, coming in at 9:49.79 while sisters Erica (fifth place; 10:36.11) and Amber (7th; 10:41.66) Seidenkranz placed among the top seven out of a field of 20 runners. In the triple jump, freshman
Elizabeth Brunner's leap of 36'-11.50" took a backseat to none of the other 19 competitors in the triple jump. UMD also received strong finishes from freshmen
Danielle Kohlwey (2nd; 8.88) in the 60-meter hurdles and
Megan Stuart in the 1,000-meter run (3rd; 3:05.04) Friday in St. Paul, Minn.
The following day at the Yellowjacket Open on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus, Kolhwey bettered her time (8.78) and her placing (first) in the 60-meter hurdles. Other titleholders included sophomore
Erica Kesseh in the 60-meter dash (7.94), freshman
Rachelle LeBlanc in the pole vault (10'-11.75") and senior
Lydia Kingsley in the weight throw. (52'-01.00"). In addition, freshman
Michaela Hesse was second in the high jump (5'-07.00"), junior
Brittany Platt was third in the 800-meter run (2:23.87), sophomore Katie Hawkinson was third in the long jump (17'-03.50) and Stuart was third in the mile run (5:21.01).
A selected number of Bulldogs will take part in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Pentathlon Championships, which run tomorrow in Mankato, Minn.
