RYAN TURNS IN SEVENTH-PLACE FINISH AT NSIC INDOOR HEPTATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS

University of Minnesota Duluth senior James Ryan finished seventh among 17 individuals at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Heptathlon Championships, which wrapped up today in Mankato, Minn.

Ryan, who also placed seventh at the same meet one year ago and ninth in 2014, racked up 4,436 points (a 184-point improvement from his junior year total) during the two-day competition that was held at the Myers Field House on the Minnesota State University-Mankato campus. His highest showing in the seven events came in the 60-meter high hurdles where the Oakdale, Minn., product captured second with time of 8.52 seconds. He also took third in both the 60-meter dash (7.30) and the shot put (37'-01.75"). UMD sophomore Logan Rubeck wound up 12th with 4,259 points in his NSIC heptathlon meet debut.

Ryan collected two team points which the Bulldogs will take into the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 26-27 in Mankato. UMD will tune up for that event this Friday by competing in the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open.
