In her fourth -- and final -- Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Heptathlon Championship, University of Minnesota Duluth's
Chanel Miller placed third out of 13 competitiors at the two-day meet that wrapped up toay in Mankato, Minn.
The senior team captain from Apple Valley, Minn., accumulated 4,787 points to trail only the Augustana University tandem of Bree Woebler (5,111 pts.) and Olivia Montez Brown (4,951). Her best finishes among the seven events came in the 100-meter hurdles (second in 14.51), the 200-meter dash (third in 26.62) the shot put (thid in 35'-05.25") and javelin (third 114'-04"). As a freshman in 2012, Miller placed second at the NSIC Hepathlon Champions before claiming the title at each of the next two competitions. She sat out entire 2015 season as a medical redshirt.
With Miller's third-place effort, UMD will enter the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships (in Sioux Falls, S.D., on May 13-14) with six team points in its coffers.
