Breanna Colbenson made her NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship debut a memorable one by attaining All-American status at the three-day event, which wrapped up Saturday night at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Colbenson, the 2016 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Central Region Track Athlete of the Year, placed fourth in Friday's 3,000-meter steeplechase and did so in a school-record time of 10:20.73. She followed up that All-American performance by finishing 13th out of 21 runners in the 5,000-meter run Saturday (16:58.75).
Senior
Hannah Olson, in her second consecutive trip to the NCAA II outdoor nationals, ran a 10:34.00 in the steeplechase preliminaries Thursday to miss out advancing to the finals by two spots (she was 14th) and thus drawing the curtain on a rewarding Bulldog track and cross country career. Freshman
Danielle Kohlwey, who accompanied Colbenson and Olson to Bradenton, failed to qualify for the finals of the 100-meter hurdles after taking 17th in Friday's preliminaries, clocking in at 14:20.
