Buoyed by six individual titles and one relay crown, the University of Minnesota Duluth placed first among six schools at Saturday's Warrior Challenge, which was hosted by Winona State University. The Bulldogs racked up 268 team points -- over double what runner-up and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival St. Cloud State University came in with (131).
Among the Bulldog winners were junior
Brian Lee in the hammer throw (166'-05"), sophomore
Darrick Jackson in the 800-meter run (1:59.17), sophomore
Henry Jessen in the 3,000-meter run (8:39.84), freshman
Ryan Tolkinen in the 400-meter hurdles (56.31), freshman
Casey Reeves in the triple jump (41'-09.25") and freshman
Isaac Overmyer in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:52.76).Tolkinen and Jackson also hooked up with sophomores
Nathan Comer and
Zeth Langworthy to take top honors in the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.58.
In addition, sophomore
Connor Behm placed second in both the 200-meter (22.07) and 400-meter dashes (49.15) while senior
James Ryan was second overall and first among collegians in the javelin throw (144'-05"). Sophomores
Cody Sedbrook (8:55.17) and
Blake Anderson (8:55.90) finished 2-3 behind Jessen in the 3,000-meter run race.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held this Friday and Saturday (May 13-14) in Sioux Falls, S.D.
