Logan Rubeck finished seventh while his teammate, freshman
Dan Clark, placed 15th among 18 individuals at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Heptathlon Championships, which wrapped up Monday afternoon in Mankato, Minn.
Rubeck, who came in 12th at the same meet one year ago, racked up 4,725 points (a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark and a 466-point improvement from his sophomore year total) during the two-day competition that was held at the Myers Field House on the Minnesota State University-Mankato campus. His highest showing in the seven events came in pole vault where he tied for third with a leap of 13'-05.25". He also took fourth in the 1,000-meter run, clocking in at 2:45.54.
Clark accumulated 3,953 points in his NSIC heptathlon meet debut and captured the pole vault title (14'-05.25").
Rubeck collected two team points which the Bulldogs will take into the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 24-25 in Mankato. UMD will tune up for that event this Friday by competing in the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open.
