Buoyed by three individual first-place finishes, the University of Minnesota Duluth claimed the team title at Saturday's Saint John's University Invitational in Collegeville, Minn.
The Bulldogs racked up a team score of 113 points to top the 12-school event while host Saint John's (103 points) and Gustavus Adolphus College (93.0 pts) were next.
The trio of champions from UMD included junior
Logan Rubeck in the 110-meter hurdles (15.91), junior
Cody Sedbrook in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:49.71) and sophomore
Ryan Tolkinen in the long jump (21'-2.00"). The Bulldogs also received second-place efforts from Tolkinen in the 400-meter hurdles (56.56), junior
Clinton Treichel in the shot put (48'-06.00") and junior
Grant Pulver in the 1,500-meter run (4:01.99). Tolkinen, junior
Connor Behm, sophomore
Casey Reeves and freshman
Sam Wiechman took second inthe 4 x 100 relay as well. In addition senior
Brian Lee placed third in the shot put with a toss of 47'-07.25".
The Bulldogs will be in St. Paul, Minn., this Thursday (April 13) for the Tomcat Twilight meet at Hamline University.
