After downing its intracity rival College of St. Scholastica late Friday night in its 2018 exhibitionopener, the University of Minnesota Duluth was back at it Saturday morning, downing University of Wisconsin-Superior 9-0 in another exhibition. It marked the Yellowjackets' first match ever as a varsity program.

Arielle Emerson (No. 6) all won their singles matches at the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse on the UWS campus. Benkofske and Thiner both did so in straight set.
In doubles action, Benkofske and sophomore
Megan Anderson gritted out an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 slot. Erickson and Baasch claimed the No. 2 win and Thiner and freshman
Natalie Cahill swept the No. 3 matchup 8-0.
UMD will return to the Duluth Indoor Sports Center next Saturday (Feb. 3) for its 2018 season opener against Saint Mary's (Minn.) University before embarking on Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play the following weekend.
