Biography
AS A BULLDOG: Has his 2012-13 sights set on reasserting himself into the starting goalie picture this season after being used in a restricted manner one year ago ... backed up All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association second teamer Kenny Reiter last season and made just four appearances (three as a starter) ... went 2-1-0 with a 3.01 goals against average and a .855 saves percentage in his 219:27 of work ... has corralled a Western Collegiate Hockey Association Scholar-Athlete Award in each of the past two seasons and is a two-time WCHA All-Academic team qualifier ... teamed with Reiter to form one of the WCHA’s most prodigious puckstopping tandems in 2010-11 ... wrapped up the year with a 10-3-1 record to go with a 2.79 goals against average and an .894 saves percentage in 16 outings ... had a pair of shutouts (6-0 vs. Alaska Anchorage on Oct. 23 and 3-0 at Michigan Tech on Jan. 22) to his 2010-11 credit ... received 14 starts in all and launched his UMD career by reeling off three straight wins (against Providence College, Alaska Anchorage and Bemidji State) before being dealt a 4-2 setback at North Dakota on Nov. 5 ... made his final showing of that year on Feb. 25 at Colorado College and played Reiter’s understudy for the remaining 10 games ... did some of his best work that season away from Duluth -- was 6-2-1 with a 2.31 goals against average and a .914 saves percentage, a noticeable contrast to his AMSOIL Arena/DECC numbers (4-1-0, 3.52 and .862) ... compiled the best cumulative grade point average (3.72) of any UMD puckster during the 2010-11 school year ... settled in as UMD’s No. 3 goaltender three winters ago, but saw no crease actvity ... did dress for each of the 22 home engagements in 2009-10 as a redshirted freshman.
BEFORE UMD: Protected the goal mouth for a couple of United States Hockey League franchises for two seasons before walking on at UMD ... appeared in a team-leading 34 games with the 2008-09 Des Moines Buccaneers and posted a 7-12-10 record, a 5.06 goals against average and a .856 saves percentage ... picked up over half of his team’s wins in 2008-09 (Des Moines went 12-43-5 overall) ... made his USHL debut the previous season in Green Bay and was 5-21-1 with a 3.50 goals against average and a .882 saves percentage in 32 outings with the Gamblers ... backstopped St. Thomas Academy to the Minnesota State High School Class A Tournament title in 2006 as a sophomore and was chosen to the All-Tournament Team ... was a member of the 2007 USA Under-18 Select team ... left the Cadet program following his junior year to join the USHL ranks ... was a three-year starter for the Cadets ... graduated from St. Thomas Academy in 2008.
