2014 (Junior): Took over starting duties in 34 of 35 matches for the Bulldogs and all 117 sets for UMD • selected to AVCA All-American First Team and Daktronics All-American Third Team • led UMD with a career-high 3.92 kills per set • knocked down a career-high 26 kills against Wayne State (Neb.) on Oct. 31 before topping it days later against Sioux Falls in the NSIC Tournament opening round on Nov. 11, knocking down 27 kills while hitting .581 in five sets • dropped four blocks (two solo), a season-high, against Southwest Minnesota State on Nov. 8 • had 10 or more kills in 26 matches and 15-plus kills in 11 matches • finished her year with 459 kills, 46 blocks, and 77 digs while hitting .277 on the season • NSIC All-Academic Team selection.
2013 (Sophomore): Played in 31 matches for the Bulldogs as one of the team’s top attackers off the bench • collected double-digit kills in four games, including 13 in UMD’s 3-0 win over Concordia-St. Paul in the NSIC Championship match • collected a season-high three blocks and career-high two assists at Upper Iowa on Nov. 9 • collected 10 kills in the NCAA II Central Region Championship game against Concordia-St. Paul on Dec. 7 • tallied career highs in kills, assists, digs, and points as well as attack percentage.
2012 (Freshman): Played in 23 matches off the bench in her first year with the team • Finished with 133 kills and 21 blocks as one of the Bulldogs’ strongest back-ups.

BEFORE UMD: Spent her high school playing days as an outside hitter with Orono High School, where she earned team MVP honors in 2009 and 2011 • a three-time All-Wright County Conference honoree, Scharf captained the Spartans as a senior.
PERSONAL: Born Mariah Elizabeth Scharf on June 3, 1994 in Minneapolis, Minn. • daughter of Scott and Jennifer Scharf • has four siblings (Gunnar, Olivia, Isabel and Holden).
