MEYER SIGNS WITH NWL'S DULUTH HUSKIES

He didn't play in Duluth even once this past season as a member of the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs, but John Meyer is hopeful of getting the opportunity this summer with the Duluth Huskies. The sophomore righthanded pitcher recently signed a temporary contract with the Northwoods League franchise, which opens its season on June 1. A native of Rochester, Minn., Meyer went 2-0 with a 3.04 earned average in eight appearances in 2013. He also struck out 16 and walked four in 26 2/3 innings of work.
