UMD CHECKS IN AT NO. 2 IN AFCA II POLL FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WEEK

Monday, September 17, 2012

For the fourth week in a row, the University of Minnesota Duluth occupies the  No. 2  post in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll, and for the the fourth week in a row, they take a backseat to  reigning national champion Pittsburg State University.

UMD, which is off to a 3-0 overall start following last Saturday night's 70-24 road victory over Concordia University-St. Paul, is one of just two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference clubs to make this week's Top 25 list (Minnesota State University-Mankato is at No. 22).

With the exception of just two times (both coming last fall), the Bulldogs have cracked the Top 10 in every AFCA II weekly poll since Sept. 29, 2008.

UMD will be at James S. Malosky Stadium this Saturday night to host Augustana College (2-1)
