NIELSEN, MILLER LAND NSIC OUTDOOR TRACK NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

A pair of University of Minnesota Duluth freshmen -- Dan Nielsen and Chanel Miller -- have both been selected the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Newcomers of the Year. Nielsen, a native of Andover, Minn., placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:33.61 (his best time as a Bulldog) and later that day took ninth in the 5,000-meter run at 15:39.92.
