The University of Minnesota Duluth women's tennis team closed out the regular season this past Friday (April 8th) in a home match versus St. Cloud State University. The Huskies shut out the Bulldogs by a 9-0 decision. With the loss to St. Cloud, UMD finishes the season with an overall record of 7-10 (5-6 NSIC).

In the last eight matches of the season, UMD posted six wins and just two losses. That last surge by the Bulldogs just wasn't enough, as they dropped to seventh in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings. In the NSIC conference team tournament this weekend (April 15-17), the top six teams in the conference qualify. The Bulldogs just missed the cut off, claiming the number seven spot on the list. The team graduates the two senior captains, Carrie Dahlman and Anna Witty.

Dahlman finishes the 2011 season with a 6-10 singles record (at No. 1) and a 7-9 doubles record (at No. 1). Dahlman closes out her collegiate career with a career singles record of 34-33 and a record of 33-38 in doubles. During her tenure, Dahlman received a total of three NSIC All-Conference (Honorable Mention) nods (twice in singles, once in doubles).

Witty finishes the 2011 season with a 10-7 singles record (at No. 5) and a 3-14 doubles record (at No. 2 and No. 3). In singles play, Witty led the 2011 squad with the most wins and competed in all 17 matches of the season. With a successful senior season, Witty wraps up her collegiate career with a singles record of 11-10 and a 7-14 doubles record.
