BOLF LANDS A SPOT ON THE NSIC SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Wednesday, May 18, 2011
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced its All-Academic Teams for the 2011 spring athletic season. Junior Katie Bolf is one of 40 athletes from the University of Minnesota Duluth to be honored by the NSIC for academic achievement.
To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
This marks the second time Bolf has attained this honor. She also earned a spot on the 2010 Spring NSIC All-Academic team. Along with success in the classroom, Bolf found success on the tennis court. She closed out the 2011 tennis season with 9-8 singles record (at No. 1 and No. 2) and a 8-9 record in doubles play (at No. 1). Bolf led the team with the most NSIC conference singles wins with six (at No. 2). She also led the team in doubles, with a compiled 8 doubles victories at the No. 1 spot.
