PLACE RACES TO ALL-AMERICAN FINISH; UMD TAKES EIGHTH AT NCAA II CHAMPIONSHIPS

Morgan Place capped off a remarkable debut season at the University of Minnesota Duluth by attaining All-American honors at Saturday's NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Slippery Rock, Pa. The freshman from Ellsworth, Wis. finished seventh -- the best placing ever for a Bulldog at a national event -- out of a field of 189 runners -- while helping UMD capture eighth in the 24-team women's competition.
