PLACE DOES IT AGAIN IN LEADING UMD TO FIRST-PLACE FINISH AT ST. OLAF INVITE

For the second time in as many weeks, Morgan Place captured invididuals honors while helping lead the University of Minnesota Duluth to a team title. Saturday in Northfield, Minn., Place set a meet record with a 6K time of 21:48 and she and the Bulldogs took first out of a 17-team, 274-runner field at the St. Olaf College Invitational. Freshman standout Alyssa Salava was the next UMD finisher, claiming fifth in her 6K debut (22:56) while junior Rachael Stack was ninth with a personal best effort of 23:12.
On the men's side the Bulldogs tied for seventh in the 17- team competition. The men were led by a 16th place finish from sophomore Nick Nygaard in 26:56. Nygaard was followed by junior Erik Escher (33rd place; 27:25).
Next up for the Bulldogs is the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 26. The women start at 9:45 and the men at 11:20
