AS A BULLDOG: Earned an abundance of ice time, points and respect during a robust freshman season in 2011-12 ... was voted the Bulldog Rookie of the Year (Jerry Chumola Award) after ranking eighth on the NCAA I freshman scoring charts with 14 goals and 19 assists ... those 33 points were bettered by only three other 2011-12 Bulldogs (none of whom are back this year) and were the second most generated by any UMD newcomer since the 1995-96 season (former Winnipeg Jet Tim Stapleton finished with a team-leading 42 points in 2002-03) ... also had a pair of power play goals and two game winners in addition to owning the team’s fifth best plus-minus rating (+16) last winter ... landed Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week honors following a four-point weekend (three goals and one assist) in the Bulldogs’ sweep of visiting Minnesota State-Mankato ... skated at left wing alongside All-WCHA honorees Travis Oleksuk and J.T. Brown for the majority of the 2011-12 season.
BEFORE UMD: Flexed a whole lot of offensive muscle during his one season of United States Hockey League play… paced the 2010-11 Sioux City Musketeers and placed 17th among league skaters in scoring with 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists) in 51 regular season outings… was selected to represent the Western Conference at the 2011 USHL All-Star Game ... posed a constant threat with the man advantage, leading the team in power play points (30) and assists (20) … also pumped in 10 power play goals, the second most of any Musketeer and four game-winners while putting a Sioux City-best 120 shots on target ... was selected in the fifth round (142nd pick overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft ... was a member of the U.S. Junior Select Team which competed in the World Junior A Challenge in November 2010 and the 2008 USA U-18 selects which took part in the Hlinka Tournament in Europe ... put the finishing touches on a decorated career at Bloomington Jefferson High School as a senior in 2009-10 by being chosen as a Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist ... also snared Associated Press All-State honorable mention acclaim for a second straight year that winter.
