The Bulldogs have signed two standouts to national letters of intent to attend and play hockey for UMD in 2008-09. The players include forward Kacy Ambroz (New Prague, Minn.) and goaltender Lana Steck (Winnipeg, Manitoba) who both committed to UMD during the early signing period in November.
Steck originally signed with the Bulldogs for the 2007-2008 season before an injury sidelined her for the year. She was a netminder for Team Manitoba in the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
“Lana Steck is believed to be a great ‘up and coming’ netminder. She backstopped Team Manitoba to a second place finish at the highly competitive Canada Winter Games,” said head coach Shannon Miller.
Ambroz tallied 46 goals and 36 assists as a junior forward a year ago for New Prague High School. She has tallied 297 points in her high school year prior to her final senior season, and was named an honorable mention All-State, as well as to the All-Metro Third Team a year ago.
All signings are contingent upon admission to the University and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
