Coaching Staff

Dan Doyle, the 2004 and 2003 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coach of the Year, will embark on his eighth season with the University of Minnesota Duluth women’s tennis program in 2008.

One year ago, he guided the Bulldogs to a 17-3 regular season record, setting a school mark for both victories and winning percentage (.850). UMD also earned just its third-ever trip to the NCAA II playoffs and finished tied for third place at the North Central Conference tournament -- its best finish ever.

During his seven-year head coaching tenure, he has directed the Bulldogs to a 71-44 overall record, two NCAA Division II Regional berths (2006, 2004), two NSIC championships (2003 and 2004) and two runner-up league finishes.

A Duluth, Minn. native, Doyle served a two-year head coaching stint with both the Denfeld High School girl’s and boy’s tennis programs (1996-97). He later spent one season as the head girl’s hockey coach at Red Wing High School.

Doyle, a 1991 graduate of Denfeld High School -- where he lettered in three sports (tennis, hockey and football) -- earned a B.S. degree in education and coaching from the University of Minnesota in 1996. From 1999-2004, he was employed as an assistant boy’s hockey coach at his alma mater and was an assistant football coach at that same institution for three seasons (1999-2002).

Doyle resides in Duluth with his wife, Michaela (Wuebben), a former UMD volleyball letter winner, and their son, Connor.
